Sleep Training FAQ

1. What is sleep training?
Sleep training is the process of helping your baby learn to fall asleep independently and stay asleep through the night. It involves creating consistent routines and gradually teaching self-soothing skills in a way that works for your family.

2. Does sleep training mean letting my baby cry it out?
Not at all. “Cry It Out” is just one method—and it’s not for everyone. There are many approaches, including gentle methods that involve minimal to no crying. I tailor sleep plans to your goals, parenting style, and comfort level. Check out my recent
blog post on this!

3. When is my baby ready for sleep training?
Most babies are developmentally ready to begin sleep training between 4–6 months, but readiness can vary. I always assess your baby’s age, weight, feeding schedule, and overall health before recommending a plan.

4. Will sleep training harm my baby emotionally?
No. When done thoughtfully and with emotional attunement, sleep training can actually support emotional regulation by helping your baby get the rest they need. Research shows that well-rested babies are often more secure, calm, and engaged.

5. How long does sleep training take?
That depends on the
method used and your child’s temperament. Some methods work in as few as 3 nights, while gentler approaches may take 2–3 weeks. I’ll guide you through what to expect every step of the way.

6. What if it doesn’t work?
If your first plan doesn’t lead to the results you’re hoping for, we’ll reassess and adapt. There’s no shame in adjusting your strategy—sleep is not one-size-fits-all. I’m here to support you with patience and flexibility.

7. Can I sleep train during teething, illness, or travel?
It’s best to wait until your baby is healthy and you're home and settled for consistency. But if life throws a curveball mid-training, we’ll work around it and get back on track when the time is right.

8. How do I get started?
